Aerospace and defence
Probably no other sector places such high demands on machining as the aerospace and defence industry. It has its own separate quality standard: AS 9100, which is even stricter and more extensive than the ISO and AQAP specifications.
Of course Landes has AS 9100 certification. Aerospace and defence manufacturers value three key aspects of the service we provide:

Machining aluminium and titanium
The most frequently used metals in the aerospace and defence industry are aluminium and titanium. They both have their own challenges when it comes to machining.
Titanium is a difficult to work material and also a poor conductor of heat, which means additional measures need to be adopted to dissipate the heat during machining. Landes has considerable experience in machining titanium.
Aluminium is relatively soft and easy to machine, but this also means it is important to monitor the stability of the components carefully during the machining process.
All the materials we use are approved for the aerospace and defence industry. They are sourced with certification from recognised suppliers.
